Demo Update 1.4

After four months of absence, Gumball is back for more butt kicking and gum chewing!  While lacking any big, new features, this update still has plenty to offer.

Here are the latest changes:

Graphics Overhaul

  • A plethora of graphical features have been added to improve the comic book aesthetic, including:
    • Atmospheric fog
    • High-quality bloom
    • Rim lighting and subtle smooth shading for characters
    • More accurate line drawing
    • Distant objects no longer have lines drawn over them, so they don't appear black anymore

Improved Swinging Physics

  • Reeling is no longer required to get a good swing.  Systems are now in place to make sure that nearly every swing is smooth, fast, and feels completely natural.

Graphics Settings

  • On the left side of the menu, there is a new Graphics panel with these options:
    • Anti-Aliasing: Temporal (TAA), Fast-Approximate (FXAA), or Off
    • Shadow Quality
    • Line Thickness
      • Note: If you are supersampling, it is highly recommended you set this option to "Thick"
    • Rendering Mode: Fully Rendered or Pen and Ink
      • Note: Translucent materials like bubbles, water, aiming lasers, and the HUD do not appear in Pen and Ink mode

Miscellaneous

  • Brand new dynamic HUD that only shows up when you need it
  • New sound effects for charging jumps and jumping
  • New music track
  • The "Pow!" sound effect will now get higher in pitch on each attack until the final KO sound is played
  • The player now has full-body collision, changing height as you do, preventing the camera from clipping into buildings
  • Vive players can now control camera rotation, however, buttons must be pressed on the outer edge of the trackpad
  • Wall-jumping was completely broken, but it's fixed now.  Oops.
  • Gumlines travel out of the shooter much faster
  • Fixed jittery camera while on the ground with a gumline attached with Extreme Immersion on
  • Moved the dummies around so there are more groups
  • Your thumb is now tracked to the entire stick/trackpad
  • You can now turn the camera up and down with Extreme Immersion while in the air
